I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

15844 your Confidential Despatch of the 6th. May in which you approved of

the appointment of Mr. T. Hynes as Superintendent of Mails.

2.

It is not proposed to grant Mr. Hynes free

quarters on promotion. He will if possible be included in the

category of subordinate officers who may occupy Government Quarters

on payment of rent.

3.

Mr. Hynes will, in accordance with paragraph 2

of your Despatch, be allowed to retain his language allowance, and

to draw his first increment on taking up his appointment.
